Stent Migration Following Endovascular Intervention in May-Thurner Syndrome
نویسندگان
چکیده
Developments in endovascular therapies have made stenting a common practice the treatment of peripheral vascular diseases, including venous disorders such as May-Thurner syndrome. The placement stent system carries risk migration which although small occurs with 3% incidence rate and can be life-threatening given pulmonary infarction, tricuspid regurgitation, right-sided heart failure. Herein we report case embolization from iliac vein into right side causing regurgitation. After failure percutaneous approach to retrieve stent, it was successfully removed using minimally invasive thoracotomy along repair valve.

Endovascular Management of May–Thurner Syndrome
May-Thurner syndrome (MTS) is caused by venous occlusion because of compression of the iliac vein by the iliac artery and vertebral body, leading to left lower extremity deep venous thrombosis, eventually resulting in a series of symptoms. Endovascular treatment has now become the most preferred method of treatment of MTS. The authors report a 66-year-old woman who was hospitalized because of i...

A 40-year-old woman with history of hypothyroidism and tubal ligation presented with left lower-extremity pain and swelling. Duplex ultrasonography revealed extensive, occlusive deep vein thrombosis of the left iliac and femoral veins. Her risk factors for deep vein thrombosis included a 10 pack-year smoking history and extended hours of sitting at her desk at work over the preceding 2 weeks. S...

External compression of the left iliac vein is a common finding in the general population. It may predispose patients to the development of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) of the left leg and may also lead to a more complicated course than in other types of DVT. This entity has been well-described by other authors. External compression of the left iliac vein should be suspected in cases of complicat...

PURPOSE To report a single-center experience in regard to the technique, safety, and clinical outcomes of endovascular therapy for treatment of May-Thurner syndrome (MTS) in adolescent patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS A retrospective review identified 10 patients (6 female; mean age, 16 y; range, 12-18 y; mean weight, 73 kg; range, 50-116 kg) treated by endovascular therapy for MTS from 1998 t...
متن کاملMay-Thurner Syndrome, the Role of Endovascular Intervention with Review of Published Treatment and Follow up Strategies
May-Thurner syndrome is a unique condition that strikes mainly young people. Its prevalence is likely underestimated and perhaps ranges from 22 to 32%. May-Thurner is under reported and often miss-diagnosed in accident and emergency, which can result in long term complication (post thrombotic syndrome) with its detrimental effect in this young age group. We describe a case of May-Thurner syndro...
